GutziGirlz...
is an 8-week adolescent life skills group that incorporates DBT Skills Training, Psycho-Education, Art Therapy, and Group Process.
"I like that we get to talk about things that relate to OUR lives. I learned how to pick better friends and who I want to interact with."
Our Mission...
"To help adolescent girls, through the use of art images, group process, and psycho- education, overcome youth-culture challenges, equipping and empowering them to become wholly integrated women of character."
Facilitated By...
Susan Devine, MA, LAMFT, ATR-BC who has a passion for working with teenage girls.
Group Sessions...
are highly interactive and include a variety of psycho-educational tools, such as video, inventories, handouts, and group brainstorming interaction.
Weekly art therapy directives focus on a purposeful, therapeutic component geared toward greater personal self-exploration.
During the first 4-weeks, the group focus is on the individual self:
anxiety, depression, self-esteem, shame, negative core beliefs, self- image, mindfulness, and relaxation techniques.
The second 4-weeks of the program targets relational dynamics:
family struggles, communication, conflict resolution, boundaries, friendships, dating, and forgiveness.
Note to Parents...
GutziGirlz recognizes the importance of parent involvement in their teen's lives. Parents will receive a packet containing effective strategies to engage their adolescents, including questions to process their teen's weekly group experience.
"Through the art projects and discussions, I feel like I have learned a lot about myself. It's been a positive environment where I feel safe to express myself and my feelings."
